Applicants are asked to outline the work they plan to do over three
years and are expected to have the agreement of a supervisor based
in a university or research institute located in the British Isles
(this includes the Republic of Ireland). Candidates can be a national
of any country but the fees paid to Universities are never more
than the amount charged to European Union citizens. This means that
candidates from outside the EU would have to fund an element of
the fees from their own sources. A shortlist is drawn up in February
and interviews held soon afterwards.
