Travel

Norwich is easily reached by road, rail and air nationally and internationally.

By Air

Norwich International Airport is just 4 miles from Norwich city centre. Domestic services provide a link to Norwich from Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Exeter, Jersey and Manchester.  Amsterdam connects Norwich with around 400 worldwide destinations.

There is a regular bus service from the Airport to the city centre but this service does not operate on Sundays.  The easiest way to reach UEA from the airport is by taxi.

Stansted Airport

All trains depart from Stansted Airport rail station situated directly below the terminal.  The quickest and cheapest way to reach Norwich from Stansted Airport is via Cambridge or Ely.  If you click on http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/ you will be able to plan your journey.  Most of the journeys have only one change (in either Cambridge or Ely) but there are a few which have more.   The cost is £25.10 for a single ticket or £29.60 for a period return.  Journey time is approximately 2 hours.

You can go via London (Liverpool Street Station) but it is much more expensive and takes over 3 hours.

National Express bus No.727 to Norwich runs every 2 hours (fares from £21) and takes 2¼  hours to reach Norwich (Thickthorn Park and Ride).  This is outside the city so you would have to take the Park & Ride bus into the city and then the bus to UEA (see information ‘By bus’).

Heathrow Airport

Heathrow is the only airport directly linked to central London by the Underground (Piccadilly Line).  Take the Underground to Holborn Underground Station and change onto the Central Line going North (Epping), Liverpool Street is the fourth Station down this line. It takes just over an hour to Liverpool Street Railway Station and costs £5.00 for a single ticket on the Underground.

Also from Heathrow - the Heathrow Express (operating every 15 minutes). This begins at Terminal 5 and takes just 21 minutes to reach central London (Paddington Station). The next station is Heathrow Central which services Terminals 1, 2 and 3. If you are arriving at Terminal 4 you will need to take the free Shuttle Bus to Heathrow Central where you can catch the Heathrow Express. You can buy your ticket in 3 different ways: 1) Online - £16.50 single and £32.00 return; 2) Ticket machine/office - £18.00 single and £32.00 return; 3) Purchased onboard the train - £23.00 single and £37.00 return. From Paddington you can take the Circle or Hammersmith & City Underground lines to Liverpool Street Station, £4 for a single ticket.
