Fisheries Society of the British Isles
International Symposium Exeter 23-27 July 2007

Accommodation

The meeting and the accommodation are both on the Streatham Campus of the University of Exeter. Sitting on a hillside one side of which looks down across Exeter city centre, the campus is one of the most beautiful in the country. It offers a unique environment with lakes, parkland, woodland and gardens to enjoy.

You can view Streatham Campus here.

All the lectures will take place in Lecture Theatre A in Streatham Court (31 on map) and the posters will be displayed in Lecture Theatre E from Tuesday morning to Thursday evening as well as the exhibition stands. The conference/registration desk will be in this area from Tuesday morning to the end of the conference.

The Editorial Suite will be in Lecture Theatre B.

Teas and coffees as well as lunch will be served in the corridor which connects all the lecture theatres. The corridor is very wide and has large windows which overlook gardens.

Accommodation will be in Pennsylvania Court (36 on map) in single/double rooms and in Hope Hall (41 on map) in single or twin rooms. All bedrooms are en-suite and Pennsylvania Court provides recently built stylish accommodation. Breakfast each day and dinner on Monday & Tuesday evenings as well as the Barbeque on Wednesday will all take place in the Dinning Room in Hope Hall. The Bar is also in Hope Hall.

Registration
Registration will take place in Hope Hall on Monday, 23 July from 14.00 until 18.00 hours. Details on where to pick up rooms keys will be given in the joining instructions which will be sent out at the beginning of July.

From Tuesday morning registration will have moved to Streatham Court in close proximity to the lecture theatre and the room where the posters will be displayed. Registration will be open from 08.30 each morning and will close when the lectures are finished each day.

Poster Session
Immediately after the end of lectures on Tuesday evening there will be a poster session with drinks. After dinner members of the conference committee will be leading a tour of Exeter Inns - in other words a 'pub crawl'!

Barbeque
On Wednesday evening there will be a barbeque, weather permitting outside Hope Hall but we are prepared for the English summer weather and will use the Dining Room if necessary. The FSBI medal will be presented during the evening. We will be entertained by Jim Crawford, a blues guitarist. The cost of this evening is £22.50 and this includes your barbecue and a drink. The bar will be open for further indulgence.

Conference Dinner
This will take place on Thursday evening at Abode, Cathedral Green, Exeter. This is a really lovely setting for our final night together. It is within walking distance of the Campus but we will be providing a bus for those who do not wish to walk. The bus will leave the Campus at 19.30 and there will be a reception from 19.45 and dinner will be served at 20.30. The Beverton Medal will be presented during the evening. At the end of the evening a bus will be provided to take those who do not wish to go clubbing in Exeter back to Streatham Campus. The cost of this meal is £39.00 and this includes everything from the bus ride to wine at the reception and meal. However, if you decide to go clubbing you will have to fund that yourself!
